Dr. Daniel R. Schumaier

Dr. Daniel R. Schumaier
Daniel R. Schumaier received his undergraduate training at Southeast Missouri
State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, receiving a BA in Speech
Pathology in 1966.

After two years’ service in the US Army as a medic, he pursued a master’s degree in Audiology from the Central Institute for the Deaf at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He went on to earn his PhD in Audiology from Michigan State University in 1972.

Dr. Schumaier’s audiology career started in academia when he moved to Johnson City, Tennessee and started the Audiology Program at East Tennessee State University. Two years later he entered private practice, and was one of the first audiologists in the country whose practice extended beyond hearing diagnostics to the actual dispensing of hearing aids, and also to include industrial hearing conservation.

Dr. Schumaier was a founding member of the Audiological Resource Association (ARA), serving as its first president from 1975-1977. He is involved in numerous professional organizations and received AAA’s first Humanitarian Award in 1995.

Dr. Schumaier holds numerous patents, both domestic and foreign, including patents for the Dry & Store conditioning system; TransEar, the bone conduction hearing instrument for single-sided deafness; and Clik, the only premium technology digital hearing aid that is able to be programmed without computers, cables, or software.

He is the President of EarTechnology Corporation, which manufactures and distributes Dry & Store, TransEar, and Clik.

He resides in Elizabethton with his wife, Donna. They enjoy traveling and golf.


Dr. Sarah A. Schumnaier-Campbell

Dr. Sarah A. Schumaier-Campbell
Dr. Schumaier-Campbell has worked in the Johnson City office since 1998 as an audiometric technician and data entry clerk. Dr. Schumaier-Campbell grew up in Elizabethton, TN and graduated from Elizabethton High School in 2000. She received her Bachelor's degree in 2003 from ETSU. As a member of the inaugural Doctorate of Audiology program at ETSU, Dr. Schumaier-Campbell received her Au.D. with honors in 2007. She and her husband, David, enjoy outdoor activities and home improvement projects. They reside in Johnson City with their two dogs, Maggie and Tilly.

Renee

Renee, Office Manager
Renee was born in Abingdon, VA but grew up in Florida. Renee is the proud mother of two daughters, one is a freshman at ETSU and the youngest is a junior in high school. Renee and her daughters moved to Johnson City in 2006 to be near family and to enjoy the mountains. They love their life in this area. Renee brings many years of Accounting and Management experience to our practice. Renee and her daughters enjoy amusement parks and traveling.

Kim

Kim, Front Office
Kim is a native of Tennessee. She was born in Kingsport but grew up in Jonesborough. She graduated from Crockett High School in 1985. Kim is the proud mother of three, her oldest daughter is attending ETSU, her son is working and her youngest daughter recently started middle school. Kim has been with our practice for four years. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Sonya, Industrial Hearing
Sonya was born and raised in Erwin, TN. Sonya graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1988. Sonya is a proud mom of a beautiful six-year-old daughter. We spend most of our time along with her dad enjoying the outdoors. We love to go hiking and four wheeling in the mountains, boat riding at the lake, and spending time with our family. Sonya provides all our Administrative Assistance with Industrial Hearing Conservation Services.

Dr. Heather L. Kistner

Dr. Heather L. Kistner
Dr. Kistner formerly Heather Light, has been the practicing audiologist in Kingsport since November 2003.  Dr. Kistner is a native to Kingsport, TN where she obtained both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Kistner received her Au.D. from Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2006.  She is a member of the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association and the Wednesday noon local Rotary Club.  Dr. Kistner married Eric Kistner, a native of Bristol, TN in February 2006.  The Kistners are in the process of building a house in the Boones Creek area and love to travel.

Stephanie

Stephanie, Front Office
Stephanie grew up in Kingsport and is a 2002 graduate from Dobyns-Bennett High School.  She is currently attending Northeast State Community College in pursuit of becoming an ultrasound technician.  Stephanie is responsible for scheduling appointments, patient records, insurance and billing. She enjoys the small business environment and one-on-one interaction with the patients. Stephanie's grandparents, founders of Evergreen Garden Center, have taught her the value and importance of caring for the needs of the customers. She also enjoys hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with her friends.

Courtney Curry Guthrie

Dr. Courtney Curry Guthrie, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Guthrie grew up in Petal, Mississippi and graduated from Petal High School in 1999. She received her Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders in 2005 from the University of Mississippi. Dr. Guthrie received her Au.D. from the University of Memphis in May 2009. Courtney has been married to her husband, John, for five years. They are expecting their first child in November. They enjoy hiking and camping. John and Courtney reside in Bulls Gap, TN with their two dogs, Sadie and Tucker.
